Design III --- Mini Transporter Competition

Congratulation to team "MECH" for winning the title of the Design III -- mini transporter competition, category high speed motor.

There are total of 5 members in our team, they are taofiq, jihouh, hockseng, hanlyn (from left) and amir (not in photo). Thanks to all my team member for their hardwork to make this competition a success.

Here is our mini transporter look like. Is looks great right. It can travel a distance of 15metre in 6 seconds with loads 60kg.

We are given a task in our Design III to fabricate a mini transporter which can carry the highest loads and travel for a distance of 15 metre in the shortest time. On the other hand, welding is not allowed in the frabrication. The track for the competiton is 0.5m width and 15m long. hence the allignment of the transporter also play a crucial role.

In order to achive the objective we had deciced to choose starter motor as our motor. This starter motor is used in Honda Prelude. We get this second hand motor in junkyard with rm 40. It is really power full but the only problem is it can travel for more then 1 minutes. Seem it only need to travel for a distance of 15m, 1 minute is more than enough for this motor to carry out its duty.
The most difficult part in this fabrication is to fabricate out the hubs which connect the sprocket to shaft and motor shaft. Since welding is not allowed, the hub seem is the best way to connect the sprockets to driving shaft and motor shaft. We take few days to fabricate these hubs in school workshop.

We really enjoy this project seem it is our 1st hands on project. Through this project we able to apply the theory we learned in pass semester in this mini transporter fabrication. This type of project approach learning system also inline with the university policy which give an important attension for outcome base education. Through this project, we had visit to a lot of junkyards, hardware shops, factories and dealer in order to the cheapest fabrication materials. Personally I believe that this can enhance our communication skill and help us understand better the current market. Planning and organizing skill also play a crucial role to make this mini transporter happen.

Finally I want to conclude here, I urge the university to come with more hands on project for students to participate in. Last but not least, thanks again to those have lent teir helping hand to us during the mini transporter fabrication.

需要不断的测试我的博客。没有工作,因为我希望它没有。 THx中的主题。也许这将让我看更好。.
